“Dodo With a Yoyo”
Linocut Print
“This Dodo with a Yoyo is a linocut print with the colours added in screenprint. The Dodo is an extinct bird. The yoyo is a fun toy. I’ve put them together in this print in the hope that you will see that it makes perfect sense.
I carved and printed the lino first and then screenprinted the colours. I think there are about six or seven colours in the end. It took two or three weeks to make. This, combined with the fact that it’s printed on high quality paper with high quality inks, means it’s not cheap but it is special! I’ve only make 25 of these, plus about 5 artists proofs.
This would make a unique, special gift for someone. Or if you collect Dodo items, an essential part of your collection. (Believe me, I’ve sold two to these people already!)
Dodo with a Yoyo
Edition of 25, signed and numbered in pencil. Printed on Somerset 250g 100% cotton rag paper.

“Pond Gathering”
“printed block…
…and just last night I got around to printing the new block. Everything went pretty smoothly and about 20-25 prints turned out nice enough to edition. The value shifts aren’t all quite what I was planning on as I had grown so accustomed to the block’s image - but all is well because I took pictures of the block before inking so I may be able to get a full color serigraph using the line-work in the future.”

The text is hand-carved in reverse and printed in burgundy water-based block printing ink and the raccoon himself is printed in gray-brown on Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper. Each sheet is 15” by 8 and 3/8 ” (38 cm by 21.3 cm).
